Dimensions and Weight
Acer’s Chromebox CXI3
Acer’s Chromebox CXI3 Design
The Chromebox CXI3-UA91 is compact and light, weighs 5.9 x 5.9 x 1.6 inches, and weighs 1.2 pounds. Unlike the Asus Chromebox and other past Chromeboxes that were boxy small units, the curved side of the front of the CXI3 and the chassis give an oval shape when viewed from the front. The chassis is mostly black plastic, with a dark-gray faceplate on the front and back. you can have it laid down flat, stood upright with the included stand, or even VESA-mounted to the back of a monitor with the (again, included) mounting plate and screws.
A total of five full-size USB 3 ports (two on the front, three on the back) are augmented by a USB Type-C port, which can provide video output if needed. It also has an HDMI output on the back with a Gigabit Ethernet jack and a Kensington lock slot. The front panel attaches a microSD card and a connected microphone/headset 3.5mm jack.
Acer’s Chromebox CXI3 Performance
An Intel Core processor provides performance to increase the productivity of your business. Multitask moves quickly and effortlessly between applications to a video or spreadsheet in a web browser and back again. Work the way you want to and get things done quickly with the energy that keeps you going. You can protect against identity theft and ensure secure access to your network with built-in security features.
Our Chromebox CXI3 is equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 64GB EMMC for local storage. Compared to most home-based desktops and laptops, These are impressive specs and rather fun memory allocation, the sequence is built to work with minimal end hardware with minimal RAM and little need for local storage. Web browsing is quick and responsive, as you can open up to 10 browser tabs while streaming 4K videos without hitchhiking.
Compared to the Salaron 3865U-powered Asus Chromebox 3 tested last year, the CXI 3 scores nearly double the single-core performance and five times higher on the Multico test. While the Chromebox 3 is half the price, the numbers are in favor of Acer’s device. The CFI 3 averaged 58fps on the GFXbench Manhattan 3 offscreen test, twice as much as the Chromebox 3 did.
It still relies on integrated graphics – Intel UHD Graphics 620 – but since you can only install mobile-centric games from the Play Store, it’s actually enough to run anything that is compatible.
To test graphics on Chrome OS products, we use WebGL Aquarium, a simulation that presents hundreds of fish on-screen. When rendering one thousand fish at a time, the CXI3 maintains a strong 60 frames per second. Especially in the Google Office suite which effectively replaces Microsoft Office and similar replacements are found for common applications like Adobe Photoshop whose functionality is replaced by applications like Pixler and Footer. From DogGnauts to Doom Online – and also enjoyed browser-based games broadcast live from Pluto TV. At no point did my performance slow down, or when I had a problem multitasking across different applications and extensions.
Acer’s Chromebox CXI3 Features and Benefits
Chrome OS is designed to feel intuitive and helpful every step of the way. It’s easy to set up, helps you search smart, stay seamlessly in sync and productive.
Acer’s Chromebox CXI3 Bottom Line
The Acer Chromebox CXI3 is definitely one of the best, low-cost desktop versions of Chrome OS you can find on the market right now. The Acer Chromebox CXI3 may be the best desktop version of the Chrome OS. Although it’s not hard to get big fish in this kind of small pond (only a handful of Chromebox os are on the market). The CXI3 is definitely better than the Asus Chromebox but it costs three times more than that. This makes the Lenovo ThinkCentre M710q less expensive than the smaller ones.
Competitors have included both Apple’s Mac Mini and Acer’s Chromebox CXI3-I58GKM with tough Core-i5 performance, but their price is almost double. If you need better performance and smoother design, Mac Mini and Saxi 3-i58G KM are great mini machines for general productivity and much more. The CXI3 still excels in its performance, decent port selection, and a design that provides great heat management and flexible mounting options.
